What is PLR Private Label Rights?
PLR Private Label Rights is a concept derived from private labeling. Private label products or services are typically a lower cost alternative to powerful, renowned brands. Although, some private label brands do compete with the existing renowned brands by positioning themselves as “premium brands”.
Private Label Rights is very largely used in Internet Marketing circles. Private Label Rights license (PLR License) means that the original author of the product sells most or all of the intellectual property rights of their work. PLR license can be defined by the author of the work and it has got no legal definition.

In Internet and Affiliate Programs Marketing, very similar to PLR (private label rights) licenses include Master Resale Rights or Master Resell Rights, popularly known as MRR and Resell Rights known as RR. There are products that comes only with PUO Personal Use Only, which means you have no right whatsoever other than using and owning it.

PLR (private label rights), MRR (master resell rights or master resale rights) and RR (resell rights) licenses are used for various digital products such as articles, ebooks, scripts, graphic templates, themes, software, plugins etc., Private label content comes in different formats, like PLR reports, PLR ebooks, PLR articles, PLR templates, PLR video, PLR audio and even monthly content comprising of all or some of the formats.

For a single PLR product or PLR content there would be many buyers. As there are many buyers the price of a single unit of PLR products is way cheaper than the cost of creating a similar product from scratch.
One can also purchase PLR content or product that is limited in distribution. This minimizes the number of competing Internet Marketers using the same content. Though, the price may be a penny more than that of PLR products sold without limitation.
PLR content and products, by it’s nature of license terms, permits buyers to re-brand the PLR content or product under their own name and brand excluding the copyright. This implies that the PLR product or content can be modified, sold, resold or repurposed in any format.
In some cases, if the PLR license permits so, i.e., where authorship on the original product is allowed and with unrestricted private label, one can sell the same rights that was acquired. Certain PLR license do not offer private label releases or permit license distribution or transfer.
These private label rights content is widely used by the Internet Marketers for reselling under their own brands or in the case of written products for online marketing through different medium like article directories, blog guest posting, content syndication, ebook directories, building a list of niche subscribers and so on.
Criticism on PLR Private Label Rights:
PLR Private Label Rights on a content or product is distributed to many a customer at a time. So, the PLR products cannot be exclusive or contain an unique content. Due to this Internet Marketers are often hesitant to include PLR products or content in their internet marketing campaigns, due to the fear of Google Panda. In fact, plr private label rights content is being best used as a ‘resource’ rather than a ‘source’.
